How Bifacial Solar Panels Work and Why They Are So Efficient
As you might already be aware of the fact that solar PV panels are made up of one of two different types of crystalline cells, monocrystalline or polycrystalline cells. It should be noted that a majority of bifacial solar panels are formulated from monocrystalline cells. Given the fact that the monocrystalline cells are more efficient and expensive, solar cells integrated in bifacial solar panels are exactly the same as they are in the monofacial solar panels. As for the functioning of bifacial solar panels, they work just like normal solar panels. There is a segment of sunlight that is directly absorbed by the solar cells and gets converted into electricity. Along with a part of captured sunlight that bounces around inside the glass before being absorbed by a solar cell. Finally, there is a small amount of light that just goes through. Bifacial and mono-facial panels, however, differ in this regard. This lost light in a bifacial panel then has a chance to be reabsorbed by the panel.
